The scenario:Watching Akram Khan and Nitin Sawhney’s Confluence at Sadler’s Wells, 7.30 – 8.45pm.

The thoughts:

In both the talks by Farooq (the producer of AKC) I attended, he showed a video clip of Akram’s work. Akram and Farooq and their partners were/are all dancers, and Farooq said what has kept him going to work in dance is the love for dance itself.

Perhaps the company is successful because of this profound love. Does having a partner who loves what you love as well helps? … I guess it depends on each individual. One of the most important things I learnt from Farooq is that there is no fixed way to make things work out. WE invent OUR future.

Tonight’s performance brought me back into the world that gave me everything, that defined me as a person. My life should never, ever exclude the direct connection with dance, be it watching dance live or taking dance lessons. If I don’t have dance in my life, I die without me knowing. I just, die.
